Mobile Device Management, or MDM, is an industry of products that boast the security of your smartphone when used in the corporate environment. It can restrict your access to corporate data and secure the data from a lost or stolen phone. The need to secure is extremely important, however, it is elusive to do as a 3rd party product.

Enterprise CIOs are insisting upon tighter and more reliable controls. The liability shifts to the MDM vendor but still comes up short. Meanwhile, the best place to put such controls are best put as close to the hardware as possible. Therefore, the MDM features are moving into the mobile device with the manufacturer and its factory installed operating system.
