This short article was not so much informative, as it was thought provoking.
Life is unpredictable. Your social marketing strategy doesn’t have to be.
The above referenced article talks more about having an effective social media campaign. But, what is really interesting is to think further into the future than just the current Facebook and Twitter fads. It is disturbing to see the local TV news using "the twitter" to report news. First, the information is not researched by trained journalist. But even worse, do you really want to watch someone else surf their Twitter feed?!? Boring.
Recently, we saw how Twitter has become the judge and jury where, celebrities and every-day citizens alike, have lost their jobs, or even their NBA franchise. That is my new party line when talking socially with friends, "if you are not careful, you could lose your NBA franchise." There is a pointed pause in the conversation, a laugh and a confirmation, "you are exactly right." (I hate to be right about bad trends.)
My prediction is that, once everyone has experience an fateful back-lash due to a wall posting or a tweet, then collectively, the Market will find a new beginning. A new way to be fair, honest and objective. The push will likely come from all the juveniles whose parents posted their child's baby pictures and daily event to the world. Now the employer, the college admissions, the identity thief, the IRS (nah), etc., have the birth date, birthplace, personality traits, behaviors, purchasing patterns, etc. It has been said by a close lawyer friend, "I don't have a personal Facebook account, because, that is the first place I look to build my defense or prosecution for my clients."
Personal career coaches warn their clients to beware of their social postings. Everyone knows of the danger, but (nearly) everyone will say more about themselves and their innocent family members to the world-at-large than they ever would ever say face-to-face. Wouldn't you rather work for the next generation social media company than Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and the other social media temptresses?
Hmmm, that is thought provoking - IMHO, LOL, haha ;>
